This game scenario is inspired by Jim Hageman Snabe and Mikael Trolle's book Dreams & Details. The book is about how new technologies constantly change the prerequisites for success and makes it necessary to re-invent your company.
In the game, you are in a managerial position in a company struggling with decreasing market shares over the past few years. The decision about a seasonal shift has been made in order to future proof the company’s existence in the future.
This means going through a comprehensive digital transformation implementing a global trade platform, which means that the customers will be able to handle all transport documents, payment of goods and digitalize signatures, scans, and written communication. As a leader, you need to make your employees understand the dream behind this transformation and manage the details in this process.
The game presents the dreams and details model and builds upon the main theories behind the framework; communicating the dream and managing the details.
Leader in a New Digital Reality is a case about, yes you guessed it – being a leader in a new digital reality. You must lead an organization through a digital transformation and all the challenges that follow. The company that you are working in, is supposed to be paperless and all future communication with customers should be purely digital. Your task is to lead just one employee through the process. His name is Kim and like all other employees, he carries with him a set of competencies, experiences and personality that will influence how he reacts to your leadership style.
The game will introduce the six styles of leadership and takes about 30 minutes to play through.

You have just been offered a management position in the department where you started as a trainee. You gratefully accepted and have just been out to celebrate with a couple of good friends. Now it is your responsibility to lead your colleagues.
Part of the situation is that the department has just experienced some turbulent months that have culminated in the more or less voluntarily resignation of the previous departmental manager, who over a long period had failed to deliver satisfactory financial results.
There is a clear expectation that you rectify this negative trend and achieve good financial results, while, at the same time, you make your mark as a leader.

The construction company you work for has been a major player in its domestic market for a very long time. Over a 20-year period, the company has acquired smaller construction companies and combined them to create a very powerful (though somewhat complex) industry stakeholder. Over the past two years, the company’s focus has become more and more international, which has resulted in both the company performing several projects abroad and in more foreign employees working on projects in the company’s domestic market.
The employees are a very heterogeneous group whose levels of experience differ greatly and who come from a variety of small business cultures from the acquired companies. This means that their views on responsibility and cooperation differ greatly, and therefore different management initiatives may be required in relation to the various employees.
Your task is to get the employee group to work together and take joint responsibility. You must also implement the project efficiently and in such a way that you make an impression as a manager in relation to the employees, the management and the client.
