A how-to guide on getting started

At Actee we believe in CHANGING THE WORLD THROUGH WORKPLACE GAME-BASED LEARNING! Of course, for the better, and we take our contribution seriously.

This can be seen in many activities at Actee, and in this blog, I want to share some of our initiatives as inspiration to anyone who would like to take some steps towards a better tomorrow.

Here are the steps if you don’t want to spend the time reading the blog

The ‘How-To’ guides 5 steps

I hope you can use some of these steps, and that we can inspire each other to create a better world for our kids.

How to step 1

Add the green argument to any decision/activity you make in your everyday work life.

How to step 2

Make some changes to the food table and process around your lunch culture.

How to step 3

Make some rules on when to pollute (Travel etc.) and share the reason with colleagues.

How to step 4

Create a strong culture for acceptance and keep performance as an open process allowing everyone to feel they contribute.

How to step 5

Measure your Co2 footprint to improve and be open with your results.

How to step 1

Add the green argument to any decision, or activity you make in your everyday work life.

Be clear on when you make compromises on.

The Green Acceptance Model

We have engaged in the green agenda by developing the Green Acceptance Model. This model can be incorporated as part of any Actee game.

The hope from my side is, that the green argument will be part of any decisions we make, and therefore also in any of the games being developed at Actee.

We know you and the rest of our cool clients and Actee´vists are designing the games we put out there (+400 per year now), but we want to make it easy to add a green element to get a green profile after any game played.

Have a look at the model here, to see if it fits your ideas of a green change approach.

How to step 2

Make some changes to the food table and process around your lunch culture.

We eat green at the lunch table.

Every day our lunch contains mostly vegetarian food. We try to avoid creating food waste, by having one person in charge to secure we get the right amount of food on the table.

You can do the same as a company. At Actee we are proud of our arrangement, and we have never lost a colleague due to the lunch….

How to step 3

Make some rules on when to pollute and share the reason with colleagues.

We never fly….and try to avoid physically meetings.

Covid19 forced us to stop having meetings and we transformed our meetings to be purely virtually. Furthermore, we made some rules and achievements for having physical meetings.

We only get positive feedback when we reject coming to visit clients - since the argument is serving the green agenda.

We have decided we can go to events if we have 3 meetings with old relations and 3 meetings with potential new clients. And it’s a common decision if the event is relevant for Actee and relevant enough to travel.

If we travel, we go by train or other less polluting opportunities.

How to step 4

Create a strong culture for acceptance and keep performance as an open process allowing everyone to feel they contribute.

The Actee´vits partner day:

We host a yearly partner day to connect and co-create our tools together with our users. The partner day is now held online since we don’t think we can ask people to fly to join. The same goes for speakers.

Workplace equality

We have created games and quizzes to support the Gender Equality Agenda. We have a great deal of focus on erasing our gender biases and we have no space for compromises.

We have colleagues with disabilities and respect each need to ensure we function as people and as a workplace.

How to step 5

Measure your Co2 footprint to improve and be open with your results.

We measure our Co2 footprint.

We have started a project to add our carbon footprint to our annual report and we want to support our clients in doing the same.

Therefore, we will add the Co2 footprint cost from the server and power per game/minute per user, allowing our clients to measure too. We will have goals to reduce this every year in the future.

The code of conduct.

Our way of working has been anchored in a “code of conduct” quiz allowing us to share and discuss internally and externally with partners and clients. You might want to test the quiz here yourself.

The how-to guide ends up with 5 steps

I hope you can use some of the steps in the guide and we can inspire each other to create a better world for our kids.
